General Responsibilities:
- Configure and test Bay Control Units (BCUs), RTUs/PLCs, and SCMS systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop new application solutions using protocols like IEC 61850, Modbus, Profibus, IEC 101, and IEC 104 for energy automation projects.
- Design, configure, and commission cybersecurity systems for substation automation, following current IEC standards.
- Act as a primary customer interface, providing troubleshooting, commissioning support, and technical guidance for SCMS/SCADA.
- Assist with proposal development, preparing bills of materials, and addressing technical specifications.
- Oversee design, implementation, testing, and commissioning of protection and control applications.
- Draft and finalize Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures for customer approvals.
- Perform commissioning for SCMS retrofit applications and lead on-site training sessions for clients.
- Travel requirement: Up to 50-75%, including visits to job sites, client offices, and vendor facilities across Romania.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in energy automation, specifically SCMS and cybersecurity commissioning.
- In-depth understanding of substation network topologies (Ring/Star) with redundancy protocols (RSTP, PRP, HSR).
- Proficiency in IEC 61850 and other communication protocols, including IEC 101, 103, and 104.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Configuring and testing BCUs with complex logics.
- SCADA/HMI configuration, including alarms, events, and trending.
- Gateway configuration for multi-protocol support.
- Integration and troubleshooting of numerical devices and meters with SCMS/RTU.
- Leading FAT, SAT, and commissioning as project demands.
- Cybersecurity expertise with skills in configuring:
- Next-Generation Firewalls
- Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
- Syslog Servers, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and system hardening
- Awareness of OT cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443 and IEC 62351).
- Soft skills: Strong adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and cross-cultural collaboration.
- Knowledge of Siemens, ABB or GE relay/automation products and associated software.
- Network technology experience, including design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with ANSI and IEC standards.
- Hands-on experience with:
- SICAM PAS / SICAM SCC / WinCC / SICAM A8000 RTU, TIA Portal, SICAM 230 SCADA, Toolbox II, DIGSI 4 or 5.
- MicroSCADA, ABB RTU 530/540/560.
- GE D-20, iFIX / CIMPLICITY.
- Logic building with CAEx, ST, CFC, etc.
- Proficiency in multiple vendors’ numerical relay products and software.
- Programming experience in C or VB.
- Power system studies knowledge, particularly with ETAP software.
